An official identification with photo is a document of identification provided with a photograph issued by an official authority.

Examples of documents which are valid official identifications with photo:

• Passport
• Personal Identification Card
• Identity Card (international standard)
• Driving Licence
• Weapon Permit
• Official employment identification document

In order to be able to be used as proof the identity, an official identification with photo must contain all important personal data (such as name, residence, date, place of birth) and your personal signature. If no official identification with photo is present, an identity witness [Identitätszeuge] is required.
