eAccessibility and Improved Usability of HELP.gv.at

When HELP.gv.at was redesigned in the summer of 2011, special consideration was given to improving usability and to assuring the accessibility of the web site for disabled persons. HELP.gv.at is based on the WCAG 2.0 guidelines of the WAI/W3C. However, general eAccessibility cannot be guaranteed with the technical resources currently available.

Greatly Improved Navigation Structure:
One of the fundamental criteria during redesign was the implementation of a simple and logical navigation. The so-called "breadcrumbs" navigation (i.e. navigation showing you the path from the starting page to the page you are currently on) on every page provides users with additional guidance.

Sign language videos were added to the help pages as well as to selected topics. These videos were created by the Center for Sign Language and Communications for Auditory DisabilitiesGerman text of the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt.

Device-Independent Layout:
HELP.gv.at can be operated with a mouse, a keyboard or with alternative input devices (e.g. Braille display for the blind and partially sighted).
